Yokohama vs Urawa Reds 26/07/20

26 July 2020

Yokohama and Urawa Reds will lock horns at the Mitsuzawa Stadium this weekend, which is going to be their first Japan J1 League H2H clash since 2007.

It’s been a disappointing start to the 2020/21 J1 League season for Yokohama so far (W1, D2, L3), as they take the field after losing both of their previous league matches via a four-goal margin. In fact, Yokohama lament the division’s worst defensive record, having conceded an average of 2.33 goals per game so far. Also, the ‘Fulie’ are yet to pick up a win at home this calendar year (D1, L3), having shipped over 1.5 goals in three of four competitive home fixtures since the turn of 2020. However, Takahiro Shimotaira’s men are confident of getting on the scoresheet here after finding the net in all three of their opening league home outings.

On the other hand, the visitors have suffered a dip in form lately, going from back-to-back league victories to two consecutive defeats. Curiously, three of those results (win/loss) have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet and score at least one second-half goal. Despite failing to shut out their match hosts in all three of their J1 League trips this season, the ‘Reds’ have picked up two triumphs (L1). But, in the absence of actual defensive quality, Urawa have conceded at least one goal in 16 of their last 17 away fixtures across various competitions, allowing over 1.5 goals on half (eight) of those occasions.
