Yangon United vs Hougang United 10/03/20
10 March 2020
Yangon United welcome Hougang United to the Thuwanna YTC Stadium in the AFC Cup, with just one point separating the sides ahead of the kick-off.
Both of Yangon’s opening Group F matches have been ‘high-scoring’ affairs (W1, D1), with each featuring over 1.5 first-half goals and over 3.5 in total, and seeing both teams on the scoresheet. Strong first-half performers, the ‘Lions’ have scored four of their five AFC Cup goals inside the opening 30 minutes of play. Also, stretching back to the last season, the hosts are unbeaten in 15 home fixtures in all competitions (W12, D3), scoring 2+ goals in the last ten. Yet, they’ve recently failed to live up to expectations defensively, struggling to keep a clean sheet in eight of ten of their previous competitive home games and conceding over 1.5 goals in the last three.
Meanwhile, the visitors have also produced two ‘high-scoring’ games at the beginning of their Group F journey (W1, L1), with both of their group matches seeing over 3.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. But, Hougang’s action usually sparks into life after the break, as four of their five AFC Cup goals scored came in the second half of play, three of which arrived before the 75-minute mark. But, the ‘Cheetahs’ have to worry about the fact that they’ve failed to keep a blank sheet in nine consecutive matches in all competitions, conceding over 1.5 goals on five of those occasions. Lapses in concentration after the break have seen Hougang concede 13 of their last 16 goals against in the second half of play.
