Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United 20/08/19

20 August 2019

Manchester United travel to the Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, hopeful that they can bring a three-game winless run in H2Hs to an end (D1, L2).

A goalless away draw with Leicester City last time out now means that none of Wolverhampton previous three PL games has featured over 2.5 goals and seen both teams score (W1, D1, L1). Untenable when at home, Wolves have racked up an impressive 13-game unbeaten home streak across all competitions (W11, D2), with United being their victims twice during the run. Both of their previous H2Hs here have ended with the same 2-1 scoreline, with four of those six goals arriving in the second half. Also, the Wanderers have scored 2+ match goals in ten of their last 13 competitive home outings, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match 11 times in the process.

As for the visitors, they’ve announced their determination to fight for the title with an astonishing 4-0 home victory over Chelsea in the opening matchday. However, United ended the 2018-19 PL campaign winless in five league games (D2, L3). While both draws ended with the same 1-1 scoreline, all of their losses in that sequence have seen them concede multiple goals and fail to find the back of the net. What’s more, the Red Devils have lost five of their last seven trips across all competitions (D1, L5), scoring one goal or less in all of those defeats while conceding over 1.5 match goals in each.
