Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Arsenal 05/07/20

05 July 2020

Wolverhampton Wanderers will look to extend an unbeaten run in their Premier League H2Hs with Arsenal to four games (W1, D2) when the two teams meet at Molineux Stadium this weekend.

Wolves enter this round on a run of eight Premier League games without a loss (W5, D3), seven of which saw them keep a clean sheet. As a result, the hosts returned in contention for a top-four finish, as they sit just two points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea ahead of the kick-off. Molineux has witnessed many tight affairs in the Premier League this season, as 12 of Wolvehampton’s 16 league matches here have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W6, D7, L3). But, Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate to see his team inject more pace in their often slow home starts. Indeed, Wolves have shipped the opening goal in nine of 16 Premier League home fixtures, although they rescued a league third-high eight points from such matches (W1, D5, L3).

On the other hand, the visitors have overseen a slight upturn in results lately, going from back-to-back Premier League defeats to two successive triumphs, both of which yielded a clean sheet and a multiple-goal margin. However, the Gunners have won only once in their last eight league road trips (D5, L2), scoring under 1.5 goals on six of those occasions. Much more aggressive after the break, Mikel Arteta’s men have bagged 70.59% (12) of the 17 Premier League away goals scored this term in the second half of play. Going back to the beginning of the millennium, Arsenal have won four of five top-flight trips to Molineux (L1), with four of those clashes producing over 2.5 goals.
