Wolfsburg vs TSG Hoffenheim 24/09/19
24 September 2019
Wolfsburg and TSG Hoffenheim go head-to-head at the Volkswagen Arena, with the visitors looking to bounce back after a disastrous 3-0 home loss to Freiburg last time out.
After a bright start to the Bundesliga (BL) 2019/20 campaign and back-to-back wins over Koln and Hertha Berlin, the hosts have played out two consecutive draws with Paderborn and Fortuna Dusseldorf. Interestingly, both of Wolfsburg’s BL wins this term have seen them break the deadlock inside the opening 16 minutes and take that narrow lead into halftime, with precisely two goals coming in the second half. In turn, both of their league stalemates have ended with the identical 1-1 scoreline and have seen the Wolves conceding first before pulling one back. Wolfsburg’s recent home H2H record against Hoffenheim can certainly encourage Oliver Glasner, as his side won four of the last seven BL H2Hs here, netting 2+ match goals in all but one.
Meanwhile, the visitors have yet to find consistency under new boss, Alfred Schreuder, pulling off just one triumph in four rounds of the BL fixtures so far (W1, D1, L2). A 3-2 home win over Werder Bremen was also the only league match this term in which Hoffenheim managed to find the back of the net. Additionally, both of Hoffenheim’s BL trips this campaign have featured under 1.5 goals (D1, L1), with Die Kraichgauer producing just two shots on target across those matches. Another big issue for the traveling side is the fact they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in nine of 11 BL away games since the turn of the year, allowing over 1.5 match goals six times in the process.
