Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund 03/11/18

03 November 2018

Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund are set for a face-to-face meeting at the Volkswagen Arena, as the hosts hope to end a 3-game home losing streak to the big rivals.

With a record of three wins, three draws, and three defeats, the Wolves currently reside in the 10th place, having notched a total of 14 goals while allowing 14 in the process. Last weekend’s 3-0 triumph over Fortuna Dusseldorf has brought Wolfsburg’s 6-game Bundesliga winless streak to an end, after which they outclassed Hannover 96 in midweek’s DFB Pokal clash. However, the 1-time German champions have failed to clinch a triumph at home four successive times following a 2-1 victory over Schalke 04 on the opening matchday, as Bruno Labbadia’s team lost to Freiburg and Bayern Munich while being held to two draws to Hertha and Borussia Monchengladbach. All five of Wolfsburg’s home games have ended with three or more goals, with Labbadia’s players scoring a brace three times in the process.

On the other hand, the Black and Yellows are still the only undefeated German side, having clinched six league wins, while adding three more in the Champions League. With 21 points and a +19 goal difference, Die Borussen currently top Bundesliga table, as the team that has by far the best goalscoring record in the German top flight, having notched a total of 29 goals in the opening nine league meetings. The BVB have won the past two road Bundesliga games, scoring four goals apiece, as they are the only side next to Borussia Monchengladbach to bag a brace on seven different occasions. A 78% of Borussia Dortmund’s league matches have produced a minimum of three goals, with only TSG Hoffenheim surpassed that record so far.
