West Ham United vs Chelsea 02/07/20
2 July 2020
Familiar foes will lock horns at the Olympic Stadium in an all-London Premier League matchup this midweek, as West Ham United take on Chelsea.
The hosts are going through a nightmarish time, having won one of their last 11 Premier League games (D2, L8), as they enter the round level on points with relegation-threatened Bournemouth. Frustratingly for the West Ham fans, the Hammers have drawn a blank six times during the abovementioned 11-game sequence. Another potential worry for David Moyes could be West Ham’s lack of concentration after the break that saw them allow the majority (67.86%) of the Premier League home goals conceded in the second half of play (19/28). In turn, seven of their last nine league goals shipped came after the halftime break, with each arriving no earlier than the hour mark.
In the meantime, the visitors head across town on a run of five Premier League fixtures without a loss (W4, D1), all of which saw them score at least once in the second half and at least twice in total. Additionally, free-scoring Chelsea have netted precisely two goals per game in three consecutive league away games ahead of this trip (W1, D2), with five of six goals they managed across those clashes coming in the second half. Delivering action from the get-go, Frank Lampard’s men have opened the scoring in 66.67% (ten) of 15 Premier League trips this season. But, the Blues have struggled for goals in their recent top-flight trips to the Olympic Stadium, scoring under 1.5 goals in four of their last five away H2Hs (W2, D1, L2).
