Villarreal vs Valencia 06/05/18

6 May 2018

After two consecutive La Liga victories over Leganes and Celta Vigo at home, in which they’ve scored six goals combined, Villarreal will face Valencia at the Estadio de la Ceramica looking to extend their winning streak and cement the Europa League promotion spot. The Bats have already secured Champions League football for the next season, but their performance over the last couple of weeks has been disappointing, considering they’ve failed to win four straight games in the league losing two times to Getafe and Barcelona. Valencia head coach, Marcelino García Toral, is desperate to bring his team back to winning ways, but the Yellow Submarine proved to be pretty tough hosts this year, as they’ve won ten out of seventeen matches at home and the Oranges have to be at their very best if looking to achieve all three points. Additionally, Villarreal have defeated Valencia four times in their previous five head-to-head encounters, which indicates the Bats have trouble beating the Castellón side.

Bruno Soriano is yet to recover from a severe leg injury suffered last summer, and he will watch the game from the stands. As for the visitors, only Francis Coquelin won’t be available after rupturing an Achilles tendon.
