Valencia vs Sevilla 31/10/19

31 October 2019

Valencia and Sevilla go head-to-head at the Estadio de Mestalla, as the home side look to extend their unbeaten La Liga (LL) run in H2Hs to six straight games (W3, D2).

Valencia’s five-game unbeaten LL streak has suffered a setback last time out, as they’ve lost 3-1 to Osasuna, slipping down the order. Placed in the bottom half of the table, the hosts have won two of five LL home fixtures (W2, D3), keeping a clean sheet only once along the way. The Oranges, however, tend to dictate the pace when at home, having opened the scoring in four such LL matches so far. Strong starters at Mestalla Los Ches have netted six of nine total LL home goals inside the first 45 minutes, with three of them coming from the spot-kick (33%).

Meanwhile, the visitors have been in vintage form over the past ten days, winning three consecutive games in all competitions without conceding a single goal. Two straight home triumphs have propelled Sevilla one point away from clinching the top spot, but Julen Lopetegui’s men have to improve on the road to close the gap on Granada. Los Nervionenses have gone from three successive LL road victories to back-to-back defeats, both of which have seen them concede at least three goals. That kind of form can’t encourage the traveling side, as they travel to the team they’ve lost to five times in their last seven LL away H2Hs (D2, L5).
