Valencia vs Real Sociedad 18/08/19
18 August 2019
Valencia will look to stretch their unbeaten run against Real Sociedad to five games (W3, D1) when the two sides face off at the Estadio de Mestalla in the opening La Liga matchday.
The hosts have enjoyed an astonishing 2018-19 campaign, securing LL top-four finish and also winning Copa del Rey. The Bats have put together four wins in domestic competitions, all of which have seen them score over 1.5 match goals. Still, a potential worry for Marcelino Garcia Toral is that his players have struggled to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine games across all competitions. Also, none of Valencia’s last six competitive home games has ended in a stalemate (W4, L2), with four of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score.
Meanwhile, the visitors can rely on the fact that they’ve suffered just one defeat in their last four visits here (W2, D1, L1), even though they’ve scored one goal or less across three of those clashes. It’s been a rough ride for the Basque-based outfit when away from home since the turn of 2019, as they’ve secured only two triumphs on 11 road trips across all competitions (W2, D5, L4). Interestingly, nine of Real Sociedad’s last 12 competitive games have witnessed goals at both ends, although just six have produced over 2.5 goals.
