Valencia vs Leganes 20/10/18

20 October 2018

Valencia will host Leganes at the Estadio Mestalla, looking to clinch only their second La Liga victory this season.

The Bats have opened the new campaign off on the wrong foot, having failed to secure a win in the opening six league matches. With a record of one triumph, six draws, and a loss, the Oranges are tied for 13th place with a 7-point deficit to leaders Sevilla. Moreover, Marcelino Garcia Toral is yet to see his side walking away from a home ground with whole prey, as they’ve played out all four draws at Mestalla so far. Valencia are also one of only three teams who managed to net two goals less than two times, but they are yet to score a brace in front of the home supporters.

Meanwhile, with five defeats in the opening eight La Liga games, Leganes currently reside in the relegation zone, with just 7 points and a -5 goal difference. Los Pepineros are the only team in the Spanish top flight to lose all four away encounters, and they are also the second-worst defensive team on the road, having conceded a total of 8 goals away from the Estadio Municipal de Butarque so far. However, with two wins in the previous three matches, including the one against Barcelona, Mauricio Pellegrino’s side showed they are catching the right rhythm.

Santi Mina and Gonçalo Guedes are ruled out by injuries in the home squad, while Alexander Szymanowski, Diego Rolan, and Jose Manuel Arnaiz won’t be playing for the visitors due to various physical problems.
