Valencia vs Eibar 05/12/18

05 December 2018

Valencia welcome Ebro to the Estadio de Mestalla in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey after securing a 2-1 win in the first leg.

After securing three straight wins, including two in La Liga, the Bats have two consecutive games in one week, one in the Champions League and another in the domestic championship. Therefore, Marcelino’s players are looking to bounce back from back-to-back failures and hit the back of the net after drawing a blank twice in a row. Apart from their last two home clashes with Rayo Vallecano and Young Boys where they have notched three goals apiece, the Oranges have scored one goal or less in all of their remaining seven games at Mestalla. Meanwhile, Valencia kept a clean sheet two times in nine home matches across all competitions although they have conceded two goals just once in the run.

On the other hand, the visitors, who currently play in the Segunda División B – Group 3, are unbeaten in their last three games in their respective division, securing two wins while playing out one draw in the process. Moreover, Emilio Larraz’s men have dodged a failure on road trips six times in row although they have wrapped up only two victories in the run. The Arlequinados have immense problems in the final third this season, as they have managed just 11 goals in 15 league matches so far at a miserly average of 1.36 goals scored per match. But, Ebro’s main strength concerns their stubborn defensive displays. They have four clean sheets in the last eight games across all competitions, while they allowed more than one goal two times during that period.
