Udinese vs Inter Milan 05/04/19

5 May 2019

Udinese and Inter Milan will face-off at the Dacia Arena in contrasting circumstances. While the hosts battle tooth and nail to avoid relegation, the visitors seem to be on the verge of securing back-to-back Champions League appearances.

The hosts have gone from three consecutive Serie A clashes without a loss (W2, D1) to four straight games without a victory (W3, D1). A run of poor form has put Udinese’s top-flight status in jeopardy, as they currently reside just four points clear of 18th-placed Empoli, with four league games left to go. The Friulians’ immense problems in the final third have seen them score just one goal in their last four SA outings, with all of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. Things go from bad to worse for the Bianconeri considering they’ve lost all five of their previous SA H2H meetings with Inter at this venue, scoring just two goals across those encounters. Still, one thing that can encourage Igor Tudor is that Udinese perform much better at home, as 25 of a total of 33 SA points they’ve collected so far have come at this stadium (75.75%).

Meanwhile, the visitors have to make something out of this fixture to move one step closer towards securing a top-four finish, as they currently sit third with a four-point lead over fifth-placed AS Roma. Although unbeaten in their last five SA games, the Nerazzurri have picked up just two wins in that period (W2, D3), with all three of those stalemates featuring under 2.5 goals. Still, Luciano Spalletti’s men have racked up a three-game SA away winning streak ahead of this round, scoring over 2.5 match goals across all of those triumphs. Inter’s slow start to the games has seen them score just nine of their 52 SA goals in the opening 15 minutes although they’ve still managed to bag 21 goals before the halftime break.
