TSG Hoffenheim vs Koln 28/05/20

28 May 2020

TSG Hoffenheim and Koln will lock horns at the PreZero Arena this midweek, as the local side look to extend their winning run in the Bundesliga (BL) home H2hs to three.

Hoffenheim’s struggling for form continued after the coronavirus pandemic, as they’ve failed to pick up a win in both of their BL fixtures in the post-pandemic period (D1, L1), bringing their winless league run to seven (D3, L4). While each of their three draws during that seven-game sequence yielded the same 1-1 scoreline, three of Hoffenheim’s four defeats in the same period have seen them fail to find the back of the net. What’s more, the hosts have sustained four defeats in five BL home matches since the turn of the year (W1), with each of those clashes producing over 2.5 goals.

The visitors, on the other hand, have suffered a dip in form, going from three consecutive league victories to three straight games without a win (D2, L1). Still, ‘Die Geißböcke’ have been an entertaining team to watch this year, with all ten of their top-flight matches since the turn of 2020 featuring over 2.5 goals. Interestingly, none of Koln’s last nine BL away games has ended in a draw (W3, L6), with eight of those results (win/loss) yielding multiple-goal margins. Arguably, one of the slowest away starters in Germany’s top-tier competition, Markus Gisdol’s men have shipped the opening goal in all but three of their 13 BL road trips so far this term.
