TSG Hoffenheim vs Bayern Munich 29/02/20
29 February 2020
TSG Hoffenheim take on in-form Bayern Munich at the PreZero Arena in what promises to be a ‘high-scoring’ Bundesliga (BL) affair.
A 1-1 away draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last time out now means the hosts have failed to pick up a win in three consecutive league matches (D1, L2), with both of their defeats in that stretch yielding a single-goal margin. Also, ‘Die Kraichgauer’ have failed to impress at home lately, managing just two triumphs in their seven previous BL home fixtures (D1, L4), with six of those games seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Hoffenheim’s biggest problem this season is their frustratingly slow start to home matches. Indeed, they’ve conceded the opening goal in nine of 12 BL home encounters (75%), with none of those matches ending in a stalemate (W3, L6). Taking into account their last seven top-flight home clashes against Bayern, a draw is unlikely to come now (W2, L5).
Meanwhile, backed by a comfortable 3-0 away victory over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, the visitors will look to extend their unbeaten BL run to ten games (W8, D1) and preserve a one-point lead over second-placed RB Leipzig. Notably, seven of Bayern’s eight triumphs during the abovementioned run saw them score over 2.5 goals, with all but one yielding a multiple-goal margin. Impressively, ten of Bayern’s 11 BL away games this campaign have produced at least three goals, with 54.55% (six) of them featuring one goal or more inside the opening 15 minutes of play. Delivering action from the first minute, the perennial German champions have scored the opener in nine of 11 league road trips (league’s fastest starters), failing to subsequently hold the lead on just two of those occasions (D1, L1).
