Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United 24/06/20

24 June 2020

Familiar London foes will lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this midweek, as Tottenham Hotspur take on out-of-sorts West Ham United.

A 1-1 home draw with Manchester United last time out gave Tottenham a fourth consecutive Premier League (PL) game without a win (D2, L2), with each of those encounters featuring at least one goal in both halves. All five of Tottenham’s last league matches have seen both teams score, with the opening goal across those clashes continually arriving inside the first 30 minutes of play. Six of Spurs’ nine PL home fixtures (W5, D1, L3) since Jose Mourinho has taken charge of the team have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals. In turn, each of their last five top-flight home H2hs (W2, D2, L1) has yielded a final margin of under 1.5 goals, with the majority 60% (three) of those five clashes seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams score.

Meanwhile, the visitors have been struggling to find their footing since the turn of the year, picking up only two wins from 11 PL fixtures since the calendar flipped (D2, L7). As a consequence, they enter this round level on points with relegation-threatened Bournemouth and are on a run of two consecutive defeats. Frustratingly for the traveling fans, the Hammers have drawn a blank in four of their last five league losses. Furthermore, the Irons are suffering a six-game losing PL away run, with four of those defeats yielding a narrow one-goal margin. If they manage to find the net here, West Ham are likely to do it after the break, given that 66.67% (eight) of their 12 PL away goals scored so far came in the second half of play.
