Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnely 15/12/18

15 December 2018

Encouraged by a massive Champions League success which has seen them advance to the round of 16, Tottenham Hotspur will host Burnley at the Wembley Stadium looking to post their third consecutive Premier League victory.

Tottenham wrapped up a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in midweek’s CL clash to secure their promotion to the knockout stage, as they now hope to build on a positive result. In addition to Man City and Newcastle Utd, the Spurs (W4, L2) are the only side in the English top flight that is yet to play out a draw in front of the local crowd. Maurizio Pochettino’s players have clinched four straight victories at home across all competitions scoring nine while conceding just three goals in the run. But, Tottenham’s main problem could be that they have struggled to keep a clean sheet five times in six league clashes at home although they’ve allowed more than one goal per match just once thus far.

On the other hand, the visitors come into this meeting encouraged by a 1-0 win over Brighton last weekend, which has seen them bringing an eight-match winless run to an end. Burnley’s disappointing performance since early October has seen them losing six out of nine Premier League matches while being held to two draws prior to last weekend’s narrow victory. Unlike last season when Sean Dyche relayed on a stubborn defense, the Clarets have managed just two clean sheets on eight road trips this campaign, conceding a minimum of two goals per match five times during the run. What’s more, Dyche’s players have lost three out of their last four games away from home, allowing 11 goals while struggling to hit the back of the net on three occasions in the process.

Provisional line-up – Burnley:
