Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth
One of the most exciting Premier League fixtures this weekend pits Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth against each other at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou can’t catch a break. When it looked like Spurs could be on the verge of turning the corner, they lost 1-0 to out-of-sorts Manchester City in the EPL before the same scoreline saw them slump at AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie. As a result, Postecoglou is still under pressure as he bids to avenge a narrow 1-0 defeat in December’s reverse fixture and reduce a gigantic 11-point on the current top six. That could be easier said than done, considering they’ve lost five of their seven home league outings since they last met Bournemouth (W1, D1). Furthermore, a 4-0 rout of Man City earlier this season remains surrounded by ten defeats against current top-eight teams!
On the other hand, Bournemouth’s best-ever Premier League campaign is on the brink after three defeats from their last four league matches (W1) opened up a two-point gap to the European spots. A gut-wrenching 2-1 loss at Brighton on their most recent top-flight travel knocked them down from a seven-game unbeaten league streak on the road (W5, D2), marking only the second set of back-to-back defeats in the Premier League this season. Andoni Iraola’s side bounced back with a dramatic FA Cup win against Wolverhampton and will aim to defy a dreadful away h2H record in the EPL (W1, L6).
