Torino vs Juventus 03/11/19

3 November 2019

Torino and Juventus go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino for the first Derby della Mole of the 2019/20 Serie A (SA) season.

It will be a daunting prospect for the hosts to put an end to their disappointing five-game winless SA run (D2, L3), especially as they’ve scored just one goal in their last four league matches. However, the Bulls have lost only one of five SA home games this term (W2, D2, L1), with all of their three results (win/loss) in that sequence coming via the identical 2-1 scoreline. Also, the Maroons have been struggling to set up the pace recently, conceding the opener in seven of their last eight league fixtures, returning just four points from those games (W1, D1, L5). Torino’s recent form will hardly help them post their first league victory over city rivals since 2015 and snap an eight-game winless streak in the SA H2Hs (W6, D2).

Meanwhile, the visitors have returned to be the pacesetters, sitting one point clear of second-placed Inter. Interestingly, five of Juve’s six SA wins since late September have come via the same 2-1 scoreline, with Maurizio Sarri grabbing a second-half winner after a 1-1 first-half scoreline on each occasion. Both of Juventus’ league draws have come away from home (W3), with each of their three SA away triumphs arriving via a single-goal margin. Unusually slow starters when on the road, the ‘Bianconeri’ have opened the scoring in just two of five SA trips so far, although hitting the net in the first half on three of those occasions.
