Torino vs Inter Milan 28/01/19
28 January 2019
Torino’s endless crisis could be hitting another stumbling block as they welcome an in-form Inter Milan to the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
Having secured just one victory in their last six Serie A meetings (W1, D3, L2), the hosts now have to wrap up all three points to keep their hopes of advancing to the Europa League alive. A disappointing point haul (27) has been followed by mediocre attacking displays that have seen Torino scoring 26 goals in the opening 20 Serie A fixtures. The Maroons have suffered four consecutive defeats in the similar period of last season, and history seems to repeats itself as they come into this meeting after suffering two successive losses across all competitions for the first time this term. The only consolation for Walter Mazzarri is that the Toro walked away unbeaten in four of their last five H2H meetings with Inter Milan at this venue.
On the other hand, unbeaten in their previous five Serie A clashes (W3, D2) the Nerazzurri now chase back-to-back SA road wins for the first time since September. Although Inter fans can’t complain about results, they are certainly bothered by the annoyingly low efficiency they’ve been witnessing lately. Five of Inter’s last six Serie A games have produced under 1.5 goals, with the Biscione failing to hit the net in two. However, Luciano Spalletti can still rely on a firm defense that has allowed just six goals in Inter’s last eight competitive encounters. The main reason Spalleti’s players are not challenging Juventus for the title is their road form (W5, D2, L3), with Inter struggling to secure all three points in four of their previous five SA away meetings (W1, D2, L2).
