Torino vs Atalanta 26/01/20

26 January 2020

Atalanta travel to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino this weekend looking to end a three-game winless run in Serie A (SA) H2Hs with Torino and maintain hopes of returning to the top four.

The hosts have won two of their last four SA outings, losing the other two, with three of those results (win/loss) coming via a single-goal margin. They’ve also suffered three defeats in their previous five SA home matches (W2), with two of those failures arriving against the top-five clubs and seeing Torino draw a blank. That’s, however, a sharp contrast to the Maroons’ recent record in top-flight home H2Hs with Atalanta. Indeed, they’ve avoided a loss in each of their last nine SA home meetings with ‘La Dea’ (W6, D3), with all but one of those six successes in that period coming via a narrow one-goal margin. But, a lack of goals can be setting Torino back in their efforts to extend that run, as they’ve bagged an average of one goal per SA home fixture so far this season.

Meanwhile, the visitors sustained a shock 2-1 home defeat to SPAL a few days ago and are now sitting three points adrift of fourth-placed Roma. Additionally, the Bergamo-based outfit have won only once in their last six SA road trips (D4, L1), with four of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men usually move through the gears after the break when they play away from home, with 11 of their 16 SA away goals scored coming in the second half (68.75%). In fact, Atalanta have found the back of the net inside the final 15 minutes of play in five of ten SA matches on the road, with only two more sides achieving that record this term.
