Tokyo vs Jubilo Iwata

Ajinomoto Stadium is the venue as mid-table Tokyo and rock-bottom Jubilo Iwata go head-to-head in a high-stakes J1 League showdown.

After an overwhelming 3-0 home triumph over Consadole Sapporo, Tokyo succumbed to an identical scoreline at Urawa Reds last time out, maintaining their substandard form. Indeed, stuck in J1 League mid-table, the hosts have only won one of their previous five league fixtures (D1, L3), suffering multi-goal margin defeats on all three occasions. Playing at home comes in handy, as Albert Puig Ortoneda’s men have only lost one of their ten home league matches this season (W5, D1). However, problems with inconsistent performances have seen Tokyo alternate between winning (2) and drawing (2) across their last four home league outings, three of which featured 3+ overall goals.

On the other hand, an abysmal streak of three successive J1 League defeats without scoring has nailed travelling Jubilo Iwata to the bottom of the table. Yet, the visitors’ hopes of securing survival are still very much alive, as they languish just two points adrift of safety. But the forthcoming trip won’t make things better, given they have only won one of their ten away league matches this term (D4, L5). Scoring has been an issue for Iwata on the road thus far, as they have netted a measly average of 0.9 goals per J1 League travel, drawing a blank in two of the last three.
