Syria vs North Korea 08/09/19
8 July 2019
Syria and North Korea go head-to-head at the Arena by TransStadia in India for a friendly meeting that sees the two nations trying to overcome the severe crisis.
The Syrians will be desperate to improve on their disastrous form over the past seven months, with the Qasioun Nosour picking up just one triumph in eight outings since the turn of the year (W1, D2, L5). Syria’s toothless attack has struggled to find the net in six of those eight matches, netting over 1.5 match goals only once in the process. Also, four of Syria’s five defeats in 2019 have seen them allow over 1.5 goals per match and concede before the halftime break. Four of Syria’s last five games have featured under 2.5 goals with none of them witnessing goals at both ends.
Meanwhile, North Korea are now on a five-game losing run, with all five of those matches featuring four or more goals. North Korea’s disastrous defending has seen them concede over 3.5 match goals across all those five losses, conceding a total of 22 goals. What’s more, Yun Jong-Su’s men have netted just one goal in that period. Chollima’s last win dates back to November 2018 when they outplayed Taiwan 2-0, which was also the last time that they’ve managed to keep a clean sheet.
