Syria vs China 14/11/19

14 November 2019

Syria and China go head-to-head in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying (WCQ) at the Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium.

The hosts have been impressive in the ongoing qualifying campaign, registering three wins in as many WCQ matches so far. Although they’ve managed just one clean sheet, the Syrians have been ruthless in the attack, scoring at least one goal in all six halves of the WCQ football played thus far. Additionally, the Qasioun Eagles are undefeated in their last eight WCQ home outings (W4, D4), with half of those games (4) producing over 2.5 goals. Syria also boast a decent overall home record against China (W2, D1, L1), with both of their previous such H2H encounters seeing both teams score at least two goals (W1, D1).

Meanwhile, China’s two-game winning WCQ streak has suffered a setback last time out, as they’ve played out a goalless away draw with the Philippines. Still, the Team Dragon have yet to concede a goal in three group fixtures, scoring 5+ match goals in both of their Group A victories. For China, the action mostly takes part in the first half, as eight of 12 goals scored so far by Marcello Lippi’s men came before halftime. But, the visitors have struggled to beat Syria in four of their previous competitive H2Hs (D2, L2), drawing a blank in two of those meetings.
