Switzerland vs Costa Rica 28/06/18
28 June 2018
At the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, the two teams with quite opposite objectives will be playing against each other, as Switzerland look to take on Costa Rica in the third round of the group stage. The Nati demonstrated great team spirit and compactness so far, especially in the opening match, against Brazil, where they have managed to pull off a vital 1-1 draw after which they have defeated Serbia by two goals to win after coming back from a goal down. Anything but a loss against the struggling Costa Rica side would see Rossocrociati advancing to the round of 16. Los Ticos are among the teams that showed the fewest attacking movements in the final tournament in the first two matches, and considering the quality of their strikers; the things would hardly change in this encounter. Óscar Ramírez’s team already lost any chance of reaching the knockout stage following two consecutive losses, to Serbia and Brazil, in which they have failed to score a single goal while conceded three in the process.
Breel Embolo might be the forward to replace Haris Seferovic who had a very modest impact in the previous two matches. On the other hand, Joel Campbell and Christian Bolanos could get the opportunity to start from the first minute for the first time since the beginning of the tournament.
