Switzerland vs Belgium 19/11/18

19 November 2018

In the UEFA Nations League Group A/2, Switzerland will host Belgium at the Swissporarena in Luzern, hoping to take revenge on a 2-1 loss in Brussels.

Having defeated Iceland in both encounters, the Nati currently trail their upcoming rivals by three points, and they will only get the chance to overthrow Belgium in case of a victory. Although they’ve hammered the Our Boys by six goals to nil in the opening match, Vladimir Petkovic’s players have failed to live up to expectations in the following period. Apart from the aforementioned failure, the Rossocrociati have lost to England and Qatar, having failed to find the back of the net. Moreover, Switzerland have conceded at least one goal in the previous four games, which could be their main problem against the likes of Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens, and Michy Batshuayi.

On the other hand, after finishing third at the World Cup, Belgium secured four triumphs in the following five games, having played out a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in the process. With a maximum of 9 points after three Nations League rounds, De Rode Duivels currently top Group A/2. Roberto Martinez’s players have started the competition off on the right foot, having crashed Iceland by three goals to nil on the road. They also comfortably defeated the same team a few days ago, with Michy Batshuayi scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory. Additionally, Hazard and company have notched a minimum of two goals in four of the previous five games, having kept a clean sheet three times in that period.

Provisional line-up – Switzerland:

Gk: Sommer Defense: Schar – Lacroix – Akanji – Zuber – Mbabu Midfield: Xhaka – Zakaria – Freuler Attack: Shaqiri – Seferovic

Provisional line-up – Belgium:

Gk: Courtois Defense: Alderweireld – Boyata – Kompany – Meunier – Torgan Hazard Midfield: Witsel – Tielemans Attack: Mertens – Eden Hazard – Batshuayi
