Suwon vs Ulsan Hyundai 17/05/20

17 May 2020

Suwon and Ulsan Hyundai will face off at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, as the home side hope to post their first K League 1 win in H2Hs since 2017.

A 1-0 away defeat to Jeonbuk Motors on Matchday 1 now means that none of Suwon’s last three K League 1 matches has ended in a stalemate, last season included (W1, L2). At home, the ‘Suwon Dashers‘ have picked up just a single victory in their last five league games (D2, L2), with three of those fixtures featuring under 2.5 goals. Suwon now face a daunting prospect of improving that record as they take on a side they’ve lost to in five of their eight previous league H2Hs (D3, L5), including the last three. Things get worse considering the fact that Suwon lost all three of their competitive outings in 2020, each by a one-goal margin.

Meanwhile, backed by a 4-0 demolition of Sangju Sangmu on the opening matchday, the visitors will look to post their third consecutive league triumph over Suwon at this venue. None of Ulsan’s last four league away matches has ended in a draw (W3, L1), with three of those results (win/loss) yielding a single-goal margin. The ‘Ulsan Tigers‘ usually move through the gears after the break when they play on the road, with five of their last six away goals scored coming in the second half of play. A potential worry for Kim Do-hoon could be the fact that his players have conceded over 1.5 goals in four of their last seven league trips.
