SPAL vs Napoli 13/05/19

13 May 2019

Two sides that have had identical returns from their last five Serie A fixtures (W3, D1, L1) will face-off at the Stadio Paolo Mazza as SPAL take on Napoli.

The hosts go into this meeting off the back of a stunning 4-0 away win over Chievo Verona, which was the second time in the last three SA games that Gli Estensi managed to score over 3.5 match goals. Furthermore, SPAL’s sudden rise since mid-March has seen them pick up six wins in eight SA fixtures (W6, D1, L1), with Leonardo Semplici’s men beating their rivals by a narrow one-goal margin four times in the process. Additionally, Gli Spallini have gone from four straight SA home failures (D2, L2) to four home games without a loss (W3, D1), with 50% of those clashes featuring over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, although the visitors have already secured the second place and the Champions League qualification, they look to post their fourth straight SA win over SPAL. Gli Azzurri have managed to bounce back after back-to-back defeats across all competitions, clinching two consecutive SA wins, in which they’ve scored four goals and conceded just one. Still, even though only two sides have shipped fewer away goals than Napoli (16) this term, four of their six SA defeats have come away from home, with three of them coming against teams from the upper half of the table. A potential worry for Carlo Ancelotti ahead of this clash could be that his players have kept just one blank slate on their last seven road trips across all competitions.
