Southampton vs Liverpool 11/02/18
11 February 2018
After a tense 2-2 draw with Tottenham, Liverpool will visit Southampton, who finally managed to secure all three points in the Premier League after two months.
The Saints have been underperforming this year, and with only three victories at the St Mary’ Stadium, they are the second-worst home side in the Premier League, while Liverpool are the most efficient traveling attack with 32 goals.
Southampton have collected only 4 points on their last six home games, and the Reds are looking to exploit that to bolster their Champions League promotion ambitions.
The Merseysiders are furious with referee’s decision to award a late penalty to the Spurs, and Mauricio Pellegrino’s team could pay the price. Despite winning their last EPL game, the home side is still in crisis, with only two points away from the relegation zone.
Charly Austin is still sidelined, but Guido Carillo is expected to take his place in the center of the attack. Pellegrino believes that Monaco loanee could solve team’s scoring issues and transform Southampton’s turbulent season.
Although Adam Lallana, Ragnar Klavan, and Nathaniel Clyne are all ruled out due to injuries, Klopp will have all players that participated in last Sunday’s game available, including Virgil Van Dijk who will make his EPL debut at Anfield.
