Sheffield United vs Leicester City 24/08/19
24 August 2019
Sheffield United and Leicester City go head-to-head at the Bramall Lane for their first Premier League (PL) meeting since February 1976.
Unbeaten after the opening two PL fixtures (W1, D1), the hosts have provided fans with a little entertainment, as both of their league matches have featured under 2.5 goals. Also, none of those games has seen a goal inside the opening 45 minutes. Taking into account the later stage of the last Championship season, the Blades are now unbeaten in nine consecutive games across all competitions (W5, D4), with all of their wins in that period seeing Sheffield beat their opponents to nil. But, it will be a daunting prospect for the returnees to pick up a win here, as they’ve failed to outplay Leicester in their last six H2Hs in all competitions (D2, L4).
Meanwhile, the visitors played out back-to-back draws at the beginning of the 2019/20 PL campaign, with both of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. As a result, the Foxes are now winless in their last four PL outings (D3, L1), last season included. Frustratingly for them, they’ve scored just one goal across that period, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match each time though. Leicester’s indifferent away form in 2019 can be a major influence here (W3, D3, L4). Brendan Rodgers’ men have managed just one away clean sheet since the turn of the year, allowing over 1.5 match goals four times though.
