Sevilla vs Valladolid 25/11/18

25 November 2018

After a 2-1 win over Espanyol on the eve of the international break, Sevilla will have a tricky challenge of facing-off Valladolid at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, as they look to close the gap on Barcelona.

With the Blaugrana heading towards the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano to take on Atletico Madrid, Los Hispalenses have the chance to take over the top spot, as they currently trail the Catalans by one point. The Andalusians are in superb form in spite of losing three of 12 league clashes this campaign. The hosts have racked up a promising four-match winning run in front of the home crowd, having defeated Real Madrid, Celta Vigo, Huesca, and Espanyol in the process. But, Pablo Machin’s potential worry will be that his players have kept a clean sheet just once in the past five home games. Meanwhile, Los Rojiblancos have failed to score a goal four times in La Liga this season, but they’ve scored a minimum of two goals in the remaining eight league matches.

On the other hand, after wrapping up four-straight top-flight wins, the visitors have slowed down in the last three meetings, having lost to Real Madrid while being held to a pair of draws to Espanyol and Eibar. Nonetheless, La Liga returnees currently sit seventh in the table above all expectations. Even more, along with Atletico Madrid, the Pucelanos are the only team in the Spanish top division to keep a clean sheet six times in the opening 12 league matches, and with nine goals conceded they have the second-best defensive record in La Liga. However, Valladolid’s principal problem relates to their offensive performances, as they’ve failed to find the back of the net in six league outings up to this point, which is the joint-worst record. Moreover, the Blanquivioletas have managed to score more than one goal in a single match just two times, having scored a total of nine goals so far.
