Sevilla vs Valencia 20/07/20
20 July 2020
Valencia head to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to take on Sevilla, looking to extend a winning run in their La Liga away H2Hs to three matches, hopeful that it would be enough to propel them to the Europa League group stage next season.
The hosts, who have already sealed a place in the next season’s Champions League group stage, take the field after avoiding defeat in 14 consecutive La Liga fixtures (W7, D7). Notably, three of the last four results (win/loss) in their top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet (W2, L2), which has been true in five of Sevilla’s previous seven league victories. Additionally, the Andalusian giants have preserved a blank sheet in all but one of their five La Liga home games post restart (W3, D2), with each of those matches featuring under 2.5 total goals. Yet, if Julen Lopetegui’s men concede here, they are likely to do it after the break – 64.29% of Sevilla’s league goals allowed this season came in the second half (9/14).
Meanwhile, the visitors have struggled to impress since the resumption of football in June (W3, D2, L5), with seven of their eight results during that period seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. Particularly vulnerable away from home, Los Ches have yet to pick a league triumph on the road this calendar year (D2, L7). That’s mainly thanks to a genuine lack of firepower up front that has seen Valencia draw a blank in six of eight La Liga trips since the calendar year flipped. Far more comfortable after the break, Valencia have netted 64.71% (11) of the 17 league away goals in the second half of play.
