Sevilla vs Real Betis 12/06/20
12 June 2020
Sevilla and Real Betis will lock horns at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in an exciting La Liga (LL) affair this midweek, as the hosts look to continue their dominance of the Seville Derby and possibly post their 62nd triumph in competitive H2Hs.
Sevilla had racked up a four-game unbeaten league run (W2, D2) to climb to third in the table and create a single-point lead on fifth-placed Getafe before the coronavirus pandemic halted proceedings. In turn, the Andalusian giants have avoided defeat in five consecutive top-flight home matches (W2, D3), with four of them seeing both teams on the scoresheet. Delivering action from the get-go, Julen Lopetegui’s men have opened the scoring in eight of 14 LL home fixtures so far this season (64%), although Los Nervionenses have failed to hold to that lead on three of those occasions (D2, L1).
In the meantime, the visitors had pulled off just one victory in seven league fixtures before the pandemic gripped football in Spain (D3, L3), with each of their four results (win/loss) during that period yielding a single-goal margin. Although Los Verdiblancos managed only one top-flight win away from home this term (D6, L6), they know how to put up a fight. Indeed, ten of their 13 league away matches have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals. However, for Betis, goals have been at a premium on the road this campaign, as they’ve notched up just 11 LL away goals thus far on a miserly average of 0.84 goals scored per away game.
