Sevilla vs Eibar 11/02/19

11 February 2019

Rocked by two successive losses across all competitions, Sevilla welcome Eibar to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan looking to return to winning ways.

A poor haul of just three points in their last four La Liga outings (W1, L3) has brought Sevilla’s Champions League promotion into question, as Getafe and Betis reduced the gap to four points. Five defeats in their previous seven games across all competitions have given Pablo Machin a sizeable headache. However, the Andalusians home form (W7, D2, L1) seems like the light at the end of the tunnel, especially considering Los Hispalenses have registered each of their seven LL home wins in their last eight outings. Another promising fact is that Los Rojiblancos have kept a clean sheet six times in their previous eight competitive home clashes, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one match goal in the remaining two during the run.

Eibar’s tally of seven points after ten LL road trips is a league second-worst (W1, D4, L5), but they still hope to bring a six-game LL away winless streak to an end (D3, L3). However, it’s going to be far from simple as they take on one of the strongest home sides in the Spanish top tier, whom they’ve failed to beat on all of four visits since returning to the top flight (D1, L3). To make things worse, the Gunsmiths’ disastrous displays in the final third have seen them failing to find the back of the net in five of their last seven road games across all competitions. In that sequence, their shaky defense has allowed 2+ goals per match four times, keeping a clean sheet only once.
