Sevilla vs Celta Vigo 31/08/19
31 August 2019
Sevilla will kick off their 2019/20 La Liga (LL) home campaign this weekend when they take on Celta Vigo at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
A new-look Sevilla side started the new season off on the right foot, securing back-to-back away wins over Espanyol and Granada, both of which have seen them keep a clean sheet. Still, four of Sevilla’s last five LL matches have produced under 2.5 goals, with just one of those games seeing both teams score. Also, none of Sevilla’s last eight LL home games has ended in a draw (W5, L3). Interestingly, while all of their wins in that sequence saw Los Hispalenses score 2+ match goals, two of those defeats witnessed the Andalusians fail to find the back of the net. Los Rojiblancos now take on a team whom they’ve outplayed in the last three LL H2Hs at this venue, each time by the identical 2-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the visitors go into this encounter off the back of a narrow 1-0 home win over Valencia last time out that has seen them bounce back after a 3-1 home loss to Real Madrid in the league opener. Due to their lack of consistency, Célticos have pulled off just two wins in their previous seven LL outings (W2, D3, L2). While both of their wins in that period saw Celta beat their rivals to nil, both of their losses have ended with the identical 3-1 scoreline. Celta’s disastrous form when away from home has seen them fail to pick up a road win in 2019 (D4, L7). Although just two of those losses witnessed Celestes trail at the halftime break, five have seen them lose by a comfortable two-goal margin.
