Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid 06/01/19
06 January 2019
Two sides distanced by two points go head-to-head at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as Sevilla take on Atletico Madrid hoping to extend an impressive 10-game home winning run in all competitions.
Los Hispalenses are unbeaten in their last eight La Liga outings (W4, D4) although they’ve failed to wrap up all three points three times in the previous five league clashes. All of Sevilla’s last three draws ended with the identical 1-1 scoreline, with Pablo Machin’s men scoring in the second half of each game. However, the Andalusians have won five consecutive home La Liga races, scoring exactly two goals per match four times during the run. What’s more, Los Nervionenses have managed to keep a clean sheet in four successive home games across all competitions, conceding one goal or less in their last ten competitive home encounters.
Meanwhile, the visitors have racked up a three-game La Liga winning streak, stretching their unbeaten league run to 12 games as their last league defeat dates back to early September. Although unbeaten in the previous six road meetings in the domestic championship, Los Colchoneros have played out four consecutive draws before securing a 3-2 win over Valladolid last time out. Diego Simeone’s men have clinched just two triumphs in their eight away meetings this campaign while suffering one loss in the process. Just like Sevilla, Atletico’s most common result when it comes to the stalemates is 1-1, with four of their five road draws ending with that scoreline.
Four of the last five H2H competitive meetings between the two produced over 2.5 goals with both teams finding the back of the net in each of those four encounters.
