Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid 03/11/19
3 November 2019
Sevilla welcome Atletico Madrid to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán for the La Liga (LL) top-of-the-table clash.
The hosts are fifth in the standings but level on points with third-place Granada and fourth-placed Atletico, and a potential triumph here could see them leapfrog the Madrid giants. Los Nervionenses come into this encounter on a run of three consecutive LL games without a loss (W2, D1), determined to end Atletico’s two-game unbeaten league streak here (W1, D1). The home fans have plenty of reasons to be optimistic, as the Andalusian heavyweights won three successive LL home matches ahead of this one, two without conceding a goal. But, goals have been in short supply at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this term, as four of Sevilla’s five LL home fixtures have featured under 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors have already played out five league draws since the beginning of the season, four in the last five outings (W1). Stubborn in defense but unprolific in the attack, Los Colchoneros have not been the most exciting team to watch so far, with ten of their 11 LL games featuring under 2.5 goals. Moreover, Diego Simeone’s men have drawn a blank in two of five LL trips this term (W2, D2, L1), scoring precisely one goal in two of the remaining three. But, no team has shipped fewer LL away goals than Atletico (3), with the Madrid outfit keeping a clean sheet in three consecutive league trips ahead of this one.
