Sassuolo vs AS Roma 19/05/19
19 May 2019
Sassulo and AS Roma go head-to-head at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in a must-win fixture for the traveling side.
Stuck in the middle of the table with nothing to play for here, the hosts come into this meeting off the back of a 3-2 away loss to Torino that has brought their six-game SA unbeaten run to an end (W2, L4). Although they’ve lost just two of eight SA home outings in 2019, the Black and Greens have played out four draws since the turn of the year (W2, D4, L2), with three of those stalemates featuring goals on both ends. Notably, four of Sassuolo’s five SA home triumphs have seen them score 3+ match goals, with each of them coming against teams from the bottom half of the table. Also, three of their home wins have been accompanied by a blank sheet, with Roberto De Zerbi’s men grabbing the first-half lead on four occasions.
Sitting three points adrift of fourth-placed Atalanta, the visitors can’t afford a mistake here if they look to secure the Champions League qualification. Claudio Ranieri and his players now head to Sassuolo having stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 home win over Juventus last time week (W4, D3). What’s more, Roma boast a perfect road record against Sassuolo in SA H2Hs (W5), with four of those wins being accompanied by a clean sheet. However, the Giallorossi’s recent road form can be a setback here (W1, D2, L2), especially considering they’ve scored one goal or less in all five of their previous SA away games. Also, Ranieri’s men have won just three of ten away clashes across all competitions in 2019 (W3, D3, L4), keeping a clean sheet only twice in the process.
