Sassuolo vs AC Milan 22/07/20

22 July 2020

AC Milan travel to the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore to take on Sassuolo, looking to post a fourth successive win in the Serie A away H2Hs.

Although Sassuolo succumbed to a 4-1 away loss to Atalanta in their first Serie A game since the league’s restart, they have notably improved since then, racking up an eight-game unbeaten Serie A run ahead of the kick-off (W4, D4). Notably, all but one of those eight matches have featured over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. In turn, the Mapei Stadium has been a venue of entertainment this season, as 93.75% (15) of Sassuolo’s 16 Serie A matches here have produced at least three goals. However, just one of their last six top-flight H2Hs has featured more than two goals (D2, L4), with four of them seeing the ‘Neroverdi’ draw a blank.

Meanwhile, the visitors have hit a purple patch of form since the resumption of football in June, winning all but two of their eight Serie A games post restart (D2). What’s more, free-scoring ‘Rossoneri’ have scored over 1.5 goals in each of those matches, netting a total of 25. Indeed, Milan’s average of 3.12 goals scored across those matches notably exceeds their average of 1.07 bagged across 26 Serie A games prior. However, Stefano Pioli’s men have failed to impress defensively in the recent period, keeping a clean sheet only once in their last six league trips. Particularly vulnerable after the break, they shipped seven of ten goals conceded across those games in the second half of play.
