Sangju Sangmu vs Suwon Bluewings 04/09/20
04 September 2020
Sangju Sangmu will be looking to extend their unbeaten K League 1 run against Suwon Bluewings to four (W2, D1) when the two teams met at the Sangju Civic Stadium this week.
A 3-1 home win over rock-bottom Incheon United last time out gave Sangju a first league win after two consecutive defeats, both of which yielded the identical 2-1 scoreline. Curiously, it’s been ‘all or nothing’ for the hosts at home this season (W7, L2), with six of those results (wins/losses) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. Also, five of their previous K League 1 home fixtures have ended separating the adversaries by over 1.5 goals. The ‘Firebirds’ often tend to move through the gears after the half-time break, as 60% (9) of their 15 home league goals scored this term arrived in the second half of play.
Meanwhile, the visitors brought a frustrating four-game winless league run to a halt with a 3-1 home victory over Busan last time out (D1, L3). Notably, before brushing aside Busan, Suwon had scored under 1.5 goals in seven consecutive league matches. In turn, the ‘Blue Wings’ lament the division’s lowest scoring record on the road, having netted a miserly average of 0.62 goals per K League 1 trip. Indeed, they’ve drawn a blank in half (4) of their eight top-flight trips this term, including the last two. But, the fact that they’ve suffered just one defeat in their previous ten league H2Hs held at this venue may provide some comfort to the traveling side (W6, D3).
