Russia vs Brazil 24/03/18

24 March 2018

World Cup hosts, Russia, will play against one of the competition favorites, Brazil, at the Luzhniki Stadium in what will be their toughest test ahead of the upcoming World Cup, as Russia didn’t have commitments in qualifications which could be a problem considering they have lost rhythm in competitive games. However, Sbornaya have played two important matches against Argentina and Spain in which they’ve failed to achieve a victory although they showed character and compactness, especially in a 3-3 draw against the Red Fury. Brazil finished top of their South American qualification group despite a slow start, mainly thanks to stunning performances in front of the home crowd, as they’ve won eight out of nine home matches, scoring twenty-six goals and conceding only four in the process. The Seleção have just one defeat in almost two years (a friendly game against Argentina), which is their only loss since Tite took charge of the national team after disappointing displays during Copa America under Dunga.
Stanislav Cherchesov has all of his players fit for the encounter.
Following a metatarsal injury earlier this month, Neymar might skip the World Cup, which causes Tite and Brazilian fans a sizeable headache despite encouraging performances from Firmino and Willian over the last couple of months.
