Roma vs Udinese 03/07/20

03 July 2020

Roma and Udinese go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico this midweek, as the hosts look to post a third straight win in their Serie A H2Hs. Curiously, all four of their previous top-flight H2Hs have seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet.

A disappointing 2-0 away loss to AC Milan last time out brought Roma’s three-game winning run in Serie A to an end, and it was also the first time since the beginning of January that the ‘Giallorossi’ have failed to score in a league match. It’s been ‘all or nothing’ for Roma lately, with none of their last seven Serie A fixtures finishing in a stalemate (W3, L4). Notably, all seven of their results (win/loss) during the abovementioned sequence witnessed the winner on the day score over 1.5 goals in one half, with five seeing both teams on the scoresheet. Another high-scoring contest is on the cards, given that seven of their last eight top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have produced over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors have failed to seal three points in nine consecutive league games ahead of this trip (D4, L5), drawing a blank on five of those occasions. It will be a daunting task for Udinese to bounce back here, considering they’ve lost nine of their ten previous top-flight trips to Roma (W1), including the last six. Frustratingly for the ‘Friulani,’ they’ve conceded over 1.5 goals in all but one of those aforementioned trips, which has been true in five of their last nine Serie A away games. Particularly vulnerable before the break, Luca Gotti’s men have shipped 57.69% (15) of the 26 Serie A away goals conceded in the first half of play.
