Roma vs Parma 09/07/20
09 July 2020
The two sides that have had identical returns from their last four Serie A matches (W1, L3) will lock horns at the Stadio Olimpico this midweek as Roma take on Parma.
The hosts have suffered a dip in form recently, going from three consecutive Serie A victories to three straight defeats, all of which saw them concede precisely two goals and draw a blank in the first half. Moreover, the ‘Giallorossi’ have pulled off just two wins from their last seven league home fixtures (D1, L4), with each of those six results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day score over 1.5 goals. But, Roma are confident of finding the way out of a crisis here, as they meet a Parma side they’ve not lost to in a single top-flight home H2H in the 21st century (W13, D3). Notably, 13 of those H2Hs saw Roma score two goals or more, which has been the case in 60% (nine) of their 15 Serie A home games this season.
On the other hand, the visitors enter the round on a run of three Serie A defeats, all of which featured over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. Despite winning just one of five league games since the Serie A’s restart in June (W1, D1, L3), the ‘Crusaders’ have found themselves behind at half time only once across those matches (HT: W3, D1, L1). Additionally, Parma’s strong first-half performances have seen them trail at half time only once in their last five Serie A road trips (HT: W3, D1, L1), even though they’ve gone on to win just two of those clashes (W2, D2, L1). In turn, 59.09% (13) of the 22 Serie A away goals Roberto D’Aversa’s men have scored this term arrived before the break.
