Roma vs Internazionale 20/07/20

20 July 2020

Roma welcome Internazionale to the Stadio Olimpico in a massive Serie A showdown, looking to bring a five-game winless run in the top-flight H2Hs to a halt (D4, L1).

The hosts have enjoyed an upturn in form lately, going from three consecutive Serie A defeats to three successive victories, with each of those six results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day score at least two goals. However, disappointing first-half performances in the recent period have seen Roma fail to find the net before halftime in five of their last seven league matches. Yet, a draw has not been an option for the ‘Giallorossi’ at home this calendar year (W4, D1, L4) despite Paulo Fonseca’s side shipping the opening goal in six of those nine fixtures. Curiously, half (four) of the eight results during that nine-game sequence produced the identical 2-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, the visitors head to the capital on the back of a 4-0 away win over SPAL, which now means that all eight of Inter’s Serie A games since the resumption of football have featured over 2.5 goals (W5, D2, L1). Far more comfortable after the break, the ‘Nerazzurri’ have notched 15 of the 23 goals since the league’s restart in the second half of play (65.22%), which has been the case with 58.82% of their total Serie A away goals scored this season (20/34). Antonio Conte’s men must be confident of scoring in Rome, given that they’ve found the net in each of their last five top-flight trips to the Stadio Olimpico (W1, D2, L2), bagging over 1.5 goals on three of those occasions.
