Real Valladolid vs Valencia 19/05/19

19 May 2019

Valencia’s hopes of securing a top-four finish are on the line as they travel to the Estadio José Zorrilla to take on Real Valladolid in the final La Liga fixtures of the season.

Three wins in their last four LL outings (W3, L1) have helped the hosts to keep their La Liga status after returning to the top flight a year ago. Interestingly, the Pucelanos have collected more points away from home this season (21 of 41), with all five of their LL home triumphs being settled by a narrow one-goal margin. ‘Blanquivioletas’ have gone from six straight LL home games without a victory (D3, L3) to two successive wins, with both of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline in their favor. Valladolid’s main issue this year has been their disappointing performance in the final third, as Sergio González’s men have netted just 16 goals in 18 league home clashes at a miserly average of 0.89 goals scored per match.

Meanwhile, the visitors are one step away from clinching the Champions League qualification, but considering they share the same point tally as fifth-placed Getafe, they can’t make a mistake here. Just like Valladolid, the Bats have won two of their last LL games although they’ve scored nine goals across those matches. A potential worry for the Oranges is their indifferent road form in the recent period (W3, L2), especially given the fact both of those losses have arrived against teams from the bottom half of the table. Even though only three sides have shipped fewer goals than Valencia (35) this term, 65.71% of those goals have come away from home (23 of 35), with Marcelino’s players failing to keep a blank sheet on their last six road trips across all competitions.
