Real Valladolid vs Sevilla 25/11/19
25 November 2019
In-form Sevilla travel to the Estadio José Zorrilla to take on Real Valladolid, looking to maintain a run of good form in La Liga (LL).
The hosts are hoping a good result here would help them erase the memory of a 3-0 away loss to Alaves ahead of the international break. It was Valladolid’s second defeat in their last three LL matches (W1, L2) and fourth this season that has seen them go down by a margin of multiple goals. But, after playing out three consecutive home draws at the beginning of the season, the ‘Pucelanos’ have secured back-to-back wins, both of which have seen them score 2+ match goals and shut out the rivals. Almost impenetrable on home turf, Sergio González’s men have shipped just two of a total 17 LL goals conceded at the José Zorrilla (11.7%). A potential worry for the home fans is that Valladolid have failed to beat Sevilla in three of their previous top-flight H2Hs here (D2, L1), conceding precisely two goals per match in the last two.
Meanwhile, the visitors have racked up a five-game unbeaten LL streak in the build-up to this clash (W3, D2), although only one of those triumphs has come away from home. A 2-1 win over local rivals Betis has snapped Sevilla’s three-game winless away run (D1, L2), and it was only the third time this term that they’ve scored over 1.5 goals per away LL match. Interestingly, four of the Andalusians’ seven LL away games have been decided by a single-goal margin (W3, L1), with Sevilla drawing a blank on the road just once so far. Also, Julen Lopetegui’s side achieved a league double over Valladolid in 2018/19, winning both matches without conceding a goal.
