Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid 15/09/19

15 September 2019

Real Sociedad will kick off their La Liga (LL) home season this weekend when they take on Atletico Madrid at the Reale Seguros Stadium.

The hosts have returned a little bit of everything from their opening three LL fixtures (W1, D1, L1), with none of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals. Two of their three LL first halves this term have ended with the same 0-0 scoreline, with both goals they’ve scored so far came beyond the 80th minute. But, the Txuri-urdinak will rely on the fact they’ve won three of their last five LL home matches (W3, D1, L1), as well as, two of their previous three H2Hs here (W2, L1). A potential worry for the home fans is that Real Sociedad failed to keep a blank sheet in seven consecutive LL home outings ahead of this one, allowing over 1.5 match goals only once though.

Meanwhile, the visitors enjoy a 100% start to the new league campaign, sitting at the top of the table as the only team with all three wins. Each of those triumphs has seen Atletico win by a narrow one-goal margin, with two of those matches ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline. Although Diego Simeone doesn’t have to worry about his defense, he must take care of his team’s recent attacking output. Los Colchoneros have netted one goal or less in five of their last seven LL games with 66.66% of their goals scored in that span coming after the halftime break. Interestingly, all ten of Atletico’s away results in LL since the turn of the year have seen one of the sides win to nil (W6, L4).
