Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain 27/11/19
27 November 2019
Real Madrid will be looking to inflict only first defeat on Paris Saint-Germain in the ongoing UEFA Champions League (CL) campaign when the two sides face off at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu this week.
Although the hosts started their European season off on the wrong foot, returning just one point from the opening two CL outings (D1, L1), they have seen an upturn in their recent European form. While both of their victories over Galatasary saw them keep a clean sheet, the last one has witnessed Zinedine Zidane’s side score six goals, which equals their tally from their previous five CL games. Also, that triumph has seen Los Blancos bring a frustrating three-game winless CL home streak to a halt (D1, L2). The Spanish giants will now be eager to settle the score after losing 3-0 to PSG in the CL curtain-raiser, which was their first reverse in five European clashes against the French champions in the 21st century (W3, D1, L1).
Meanwhile, the visitors comfortably sit at the top of Group A, having won all four of their opening group matches without conceding a single goal. PSG’s game usually sparks into action in the second half when they play away from home, as five of seven CL away goals they’ve scored so far came after the break. But, the Parisians have netted just one goal in their previous two trips to the Bernabeu, conceding four goals in total (L2). Additionally, they have picked up only two wins in their last ten European clashes against the Spanish opponents (W2, D1, L7). But, an encouragement for Thomas Tuchel is that his players have won seven of their previous eight CL fixtures (W7, L1), scoring 2+ match goals on five of those occasions.
