Real Madrid vs Osasuna 26/09/19
26 September 2019
Real Madrid welcome the newly-promoted Osasuna to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for their first La Liga (LL) H2H since 2017.
Fresh from a significant 1-0 away win over Sevilla, the hosts will look to post second straight LL home win for the first time since early May. Unbeaten in the national championship so far (W3, D2), Los Blancos have been regular on the scoresheet, netting 2+ match goals on three occasions already. However, just one clean sheet in the last nine LL outings should worry Zinedine Zidane, especially as his side conceded over 1.5 match goals five times across that period. Still, Los Merengues boast a solid LL home record lately (W6, D1, L1), with all of those triumphs seeing them score two or more goals. Such a good run should be extended here considering Real won all nine of their last LL H2Hs with Osasuna at this venue.
On the other hand, after a narrow 1-0 away win over Leganes in the LL opener, the visitors have played out four consecutive league draws, including a stunning 2-2 home draw with Barcelona. It was the only time this term that Osasuna scored over 1.5 goals and allowed more than one goal per match. Furthermore, a 1-0 halftime lead over the Catalans was also the only first-half goal seen in Osasuna’s five first halves of LL football played so far. Also, Los Rojillos’ recent away games have been short of entertainment, with four of their last five competitive trips featuring under 2.5 goals with only two seeing both teams score.
