Real Madrid vs Getafe 03/07/20

03 July 2020

Getafe head to the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium to take on Real Madrid, looking to bring a three-game goal drought in their La Liga H2Hs to an end.

Real Madrid take the field after racking up five straight league victories, four of which saw them score over 1.5 goals, as they look to extend a one-point lead over second-placed Barcelona. Getafe seem to be the perfect victim, given that Los Blancos have won 11 of their last 12 La Liga H2Hs (D1), with ten of those successes producing a full-time margin of two or more goals. Additionally, yet to lose at home in La Liga this season (W12, D4), Zinedine Zidane’s men have preserved a clean sheet in nine of 16 league games so far (56.25%), with just one side conceding fewer home goals than Real (10). That’s due to Madrid’s cagey approach before the break that has seen them allow a league-low two-first half goals on home turf this term.

As for the visitors, they’ve managed to bring a five-game winless run in La Liga to a halt with a 2-1 home win over Real Sociedad last time out (D4, L1). However, Getafe face an uphill task of breaking a two-game winless away streak (D1, L1), as they take on a side they’ve lost to in ten of their previous top-flight away H2Hs. A genuine lack of firepower up front has seen Getafe score under 1.5 goals in seven of those ten clashes, which has been the case in all four of their last La Liga away fixtures. But, Jose Bordalas’ men often look to take control of their faith, having opened the scoring in ten of 15 La Liga road trips this season, which makes them the division’s second-fastest away starters.
